June Bugs

Something’s going on, what it is I can’t say, but there are June bugs on the first day of May.
Something’s going on, it rubs me the wrong way - June bugs on the first day of May.

Saw crape myrtles blooming in Koochiching County, saw a bear lumber across Hwy 10
Cicadas now sing all night long; hear mountain lions now and again.
Kudzu covered a cow standing still. Floods took the White’s weathervane.
Smoke from the fires rise higher and higher as the hills are crying for rain.

Something’s going on, what it is I can’t say, but there are June bugs on the first day of May.
Something’s going on, it rubs me the wrong way - June bugs on the first day of May.

I saw snow down in Houston; Bar Harbor endured a heat wave like never before.
And what is surprising, the tide just keeps rising and washing away the whole shore.
Saw geese flying south and geese flying north this year on the Fourth of July.
And a the craziest sight - all the starlight is fading away in the sky.

Something’s going on, what it is I can’t say, but there are June bugs on the first day of May.
Something’s going on, it rubs me the wrong way - June bugs on the first day of May.

There’s a shortage of shrimp and a surplus of soy; good tomatoes are so hard to find.
I don’t know what the heck’s going on, but I’m thinking that we’re in a bind.
I remember those nights when fireflies lit up the meadow like sparks from a fire.
But now just a few come into view and I think that I preach to the choir…when I say

Something's going on, what it is I can't say, but there are June bugs on the first day of May.
Something’s going on, it rubs me the wrong way - June bugs on the first day of May.
Something’s going on, and we’re all gonna pay for June bugs on the first day of May.
